Sweater Shaver
When fabric such as wool or cashmere comes into contact with other objects, some of the fibers eventually come loose. When this happens time and again the small pieces of thread that come lose turn into small balls called pills, begin to form on the fabric. The devise to remove these pilings is called a sweater shaver. The best way to remove these pills or small balls is to use the sweater shaver. When the sweater shaver is moved slowly over the fabric it gently removes the pills as you move it along the surface. But you must be careful when using it because different materials have different levels of strength to the fabric and you don’t want to damage your sweater. That is why choosing the right type of sweater shaver is important. When you choose the right type of sweater shaver be sure to follow the instructions carefully.
The best way to make ones sweaters last longer is by using a sweater shaver correctly. The pills that form on the sweater make the sweater look old and worn. the amount of thread it is taking up is very small. So that is why even if you use a Sweater shaver it is not taking up much of the fabric. So not surprisingly when you use a sweater shaver it will restore the new look it once had. Sweaters are not the only clothing that you can use a sweater shaver on, it can also be used on gloves, hats even on wool coats and scarves. There is also another device called a lint shaver which is similar to a sweater shaver but is used mainly for upholstery upkeep.
Some people may be tempted to use an ordinary electric razor to do the same job but you must be very care full when doing this because it is easy to “burn” a big hole in the fabric. That is why it’s always better to use a sweater shaver instead, but that is not to say you shouldn’t be care full with one, it’s usually better to do a few “practice runs” on a garment that you will not use, before you try it on a sweater that you still wear. Another thing to remember when using the sweater shaver is that its best not to use it on any embroidery, because there is the risk of both puling out the embroidery and also over stressing and burning out the motor, because usually the shaver is powered by small D.C powered motors. These types of shavers come in various sizes and prices; and it is not difficult to find a cheap one that will suit your budget.
